  • Day 1 Colombo Airport - Sigiriya - Habarana
    Colombo Airport - Sigiriya - Habarana

    Arrive at the airport and meet with our representative, to be transferred to Habarana, a small city in the Anuradhapura District in Sri Lanka, popular as a base for Sigiriya. Check into the hotel and spend rest of the day at leisure. Welcome dinner and overnight stay at hotel. Two nights stay in superior room on half board basis.

  • Day 2 Habarana- Polonnaruwa – Minneriya –Habarana
    Habarana- Polonnaruwa – Minneriya –Habarana

    Following breakfast, visit the archeological ruins of Polonnaruwa, approximately 1.5 hours of drive. The second-most ancient of all kingdoms in Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa was the medieval capital and crown jewel of King Parakramabahu I. Amidst the scattered walls of this World Heritage Site, one will find stupas, resting Buddha statues, irrigation canals and fantastically carved Hindu sculptures. Admire the beautiful stone carvings of Watagate, known to carry influences from the Hindu architecture. The rock temple of the Buddha, the Gal Vihara boasts rock re lief statues of the Buddha, some of the best examples of ancient Sinhalese sculpting and carving arts. Nissankamalla Council Chamber, complete with its pillars, remind one of the aesthetics of a powerful kingdom which rests beside Parakrama Samudraya, a shallow reservoir believed to be a masterpiece of irrigation from those times. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

  • Day 3 Habarana - Dambulla - Matale - Kandy
    Habarana - Dambulla - Matale - Kandy

    After your early morning tea, climb up to the Sigiriya Rock Fortress boasting remnants of a ruined palace from the 5th century, surrounded by an extensive network of fortifications, vast gardens, ponds, canals, alleys and fountains. Check out the gigantic Lion Paws, Lion Rock, a mirror wall as well as a museum and get interesting insights into the history, art, architecture as well as ancient engineering and urban planning supremacy of the Kingdom of King Kasyapa. Have late breakfast at Habarana Village by Cinnamon, post which, you will travel from Sigiriya to Dambulla, approx 15 minutes of drive. Once here, visit the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage site as well as the largest and the best preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. Among other things, the temple remains famous for a 14m statue of Lord Buddha; exquisite paintings distributed over 5 caves as well as ceiling walls covered with over 1500 paintings. Next, you travel approximately 1.5 hours from Sigiriya to reach Matale. Visit a spice garden at this agricultural zone in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. Woven around spices, Matale has an interesting story of the rebellion in 1848 that it spearheaded. At the spice garden, learn about the therapeutic values of spices & enjoy a refreshing cup of herbal tea. Roam around locally before travelling back to Kandy. Overnight stay at the the hotel.

  • Day 4 Kandy - Peradeniya – Kandy
    Kandy - Peradeniya – Kandy

    After breakfast at the hotel, proceed towards the Royal Botanical Gardens of Peradeniya, just 30 minutes away. Spread over 147 acres, the gardens offer a blissful retreat amidst verdant and well-kept lawns, pavilions and an octagon conservatory. Stop by the cafeteria towards the north entrance, and enjoy views of the orchid house and giant Javan fig trees. Transfer to Kandy and have lunch at a local restaurant at your own expense. Explore Kandy, popular as the cultural capital of Sri Lanka, and carrying significant traces of Sri Lankan art, architecture, history and culture. The Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, one of the most significant shrines in Buddhism will be the highlight of your visit. Also explore the Kandy City Centre, popular for its world class brands, bazaar, an arts & crafts centre, as well as a gem museum & lapidary.
