The vast plains of the Serengeti are known for playing host to one of world’s most incredible wildlife spectacles – the Great Migration. Contrary to popular belief, this mass movement of wildebeest and zebra is not a once-a-year event but is actually a continually occurring phenomenon that moves in a broadly circular direction across northern Tanzania and, briefly, southern Kenya’s Masai Mara.
In addition to the Great Wildebeest Migration, the Serengeti is home to an astonishing diversity and density of wildlife. While on safari here you can look out for leopards lounging in trees, cheetah pacing the plains, and gold-maned lions roaming wide. You’ll also see herds of elephants, giraffes, and protected rhinos. Accommodation options range from luxury lodges with breathtaking views to cosy tented camps that immerse you in the unspoiled wilderness.
