  • Day 1 San José del Cabo

    You will be met at the airport and transferred to a historic and characterful hotel in the centre of town. Relax by the hotel pool or explore the historic streets of San José del Cabo. 

  • Day 2 San José del Cabo - La Paz

    San José del Cabo - La Paz

    Head to the beautiful bay of Cabo San Lucas and take a small boat out to see the natural arch and its pink granite cliff, inhabited by a colony of sea lions. Continue to La Paz, visiting the ghost mining town of El Triunfoen route. Check in to a cosy hotel overlooking an old Jesuit mission church. Explore the nearby walking or kayaking routes around the bay and its bordering mangrove forests. (Alternatively, join an optional whale-watching excursion led by an expert marine biologist.)

  • Day 3 Espíritu Santo

    Depart by boat for Espíritu Santo. This UNESCO-listed island was first explored thoroughly in 1974 by Jacques Cousteau, who described the surrounding waters as ‘The Aquarium of the World’.Accompanied by a marine biologist, sail to an islet inhabited by a playful seal lion colony and snorkel through colourful corals alive with tropical fish. Enjoy lunch on the beach and return to La Paz before sunset.

  • Day 4 La Paz - Loreto

    Travel north to Loreto, the former capital of Baja California del Sur. It was here that the first Spanish colonial settlement on the peninsula was founded, in 1697. The area’s protected marine park is inhabited by whales, mantas, dolphins and orcas. Cross desert landscapes, travel through canyons of the imposing Sierra de la Giganta range, and descend towards the Sea of Cortez. Check in to a characterful inn in Loreto’s historic centre. In the afternoon, visit the mission of 1967 and the Museum of the Missions. (Optional snorkelling excur sion to swim with harmless whale sharks.)

  • Day 5 Coronado

    Coronado

    Set sail to explore the volcanic island of Coronado, with its coral beach and pristine nature. This small paradise is covered with small cacti and wild chamomile lawns, its surrounding waters alive with sealions, colourful fish and seabirds. Head back to shore and enjoy a light lunch on the beach before visiting an impressive canyon and a beautiful mission founded in the late 1600s. (Optional whale-watching excursion to seek outblue whales, the planet’s largest living species.)

  • Day 6 Sea of Cortez

    Sea of Cortez

    Explore the coast along the Sea of Cortez, passing fields covered with colossal cacti and see the many small bays that comprise the great Concepción Bay. Visit Santa Rosalia, founded by the French in the late 19th century around a rich copper deposit. On the way back to Loreto, visit the 18th-century mission and Mulegé palm oasis. (Optional 4-hour guided walk to a site of ancient cave paintings.)

  • Day 7 Loreto - Todos Santos

    Loreto - Todos Santos

    Drive towards the Pacific, crossing the curves of the imposing Sierra de la Giganta once more. In Magdalena Bay, experience an encounter with the gray whales that crowd the great lagoon in winter. Continue to the colonial town of Todos Santos, a bohemian refuge for artists from around the world. Stay overnight in a characterful hotel.
