    Explore the captivating landscapes as you embark on the Garden Route journey with your local tour guide. Travel along Sir Lowry’s Pass, enjoying breathtaking views en route to Grabouw and Elgin, surrounded by picturesque mountains. Pause at a local farmstall to relish products from the region before reaching Cape Agulhas, the meeting point of the Atlantic and the Indian Oceans. Visit the historic Cape Agulhas Lighthouse, an iconic symbol of Africa’s tip. Journey through Swellendam, the Tradouw Pass, the Barrydale, and the famous Route 62. Ind ulge in premium port wines in Calitzdorp and proceed to Oudtshoorn, the ‘ostrich feather capital’.     After a leisurely breakfast take a tour of the spectacular limestone caverns of the Cango Caves, one of the world’s great natural wonders, sculpted by nature through the ages. Afterwards enjoy a wine tasting at a local wine estate in the scenic Schoemanshoek Valley. Return to Oudtshoorn for a fun filled interactive guided tour at a working Ostrich Farm.     Travel over the Outeniqua Pass to George, with its many historical landmarks, and on to the attractive resort town of Wilderness. In Knysna, known as the oyster box of South Africa, journey into the magical Knysna Forests, home to elusive Knysna elephants. Visit the Dalene Matthee Big Tree Memorial and enjoy a delicious lunch in the forest at Totties Farm Kitchen.

    Visit the Forest Legends Museum, the colourful Old Suzie steam engine and the stately Old Forester’s Home. Continue to Monkeland Primate Sanctuary, where you’ll see a variety of primates roaming free in the forest. Enjoy the spectacular views from Eastern Head before travelling to Brenton on Sea, with its unspoilt beaches and peaceful surrounds.

    Drive to Plettenberg Bay, considered the jewel of the Garden Route, and visit the Birds of Eden free-flight sanctuary. Continue to Bloukrans Bridge, the highest single span arch bridge in the world, then visit the Tsitsikamma National Park and Storms River Mouth.

  • Day 6 Tsitsikamma - Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth) - Johannesburg

    Head east along the Tsitsikamma Forest to Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth), affectionately known as ‘the friendly city’. Travel to Chief Dawid Stuurman Airport for aflight to Johannesburg, where you’ll be met and transferred to your hotel. The remainder of the day is at leisure to relax or explore Johannesburg.

    Explore Soweto and its surrounds today, where some of the pivotal events in the struggle against apartheid took place. Drive past the FNB Stadium, where Mandela gave his first speech after being released from prison in 1990, then continue through Diepkloof and Kliptown, where the Freedom Charter was officially adopted in 1955. This afternoon, visit the Hector Pieterson Memorial and Museum and the prestigious Apartheid Museum.

    A day at leisure to explore the city further or take an optional tour to Maropeng, the Cradle of Mankind (at own expense).

  • Day 9 Johannesburg - Kruger National Park

    Head east this morning to the Mpumalanga region and check into your safari lodge. After some time to freshen up, enter the Kruger National Park for a thrilling afternoon of game viewing in a closed touring vehicle. This evening, enjoy authentic local cuisine around a campfire at your lodge.

    After an early-morning coffee, head out for a game drivein an open vehicle with an expert ranger, with a pre-packed breakfast. Seek out the Big Five as well as prolific birdlife and a host of other wildlife. The safari includes a visit to the Anti-Poaching Dog Unit. Return to your lodge for lunch (at own expense) and a chance to rest. In the afternoon, enjoy another wildlife drive in the magnificent landscapes of Kruger. Dinner will be served at your lodge around a campfire.

    Today you’ll explore the magnificent Panorama Route, one of South Africa’s most scenic driving routes. Take in the astonishing views from God’s Window and see the Three Rondavels, Blyde River Canyon and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. Also stop at the charming village of Graskop, one the nation’s first gold mining camps. Return to your lodge for a delectable Boma Dinner served under the stars.
